Setting up your Modem

- Turn the power to the Newton on.
- Tap Extras. to open the Extras Drawer.

- Tap the folder tab, the diamond, at the top of the Extras Drawer
- From the list tap All Icons.
- Tap Prefs then tap Modem.
- If you would like to change the volume of your modem, use the slider bar to select from off to loud.
- Select Pulse Dialing (rotary) or Tone Dialing.
- Tap to the right of Connect using to specify
whether your modem is on a PC Card (PCMCIA) or connected to the serial port.
- Tap Modem setup and choose a modem that is similar to yours.
Note: The modem choices depend on the model of Newton device you are using.

Please contact your modem manufacturer for further assistance.
- When you are finished, tap X to close the Modem slip window.

- Tap X to close the Preferences window.
