1. At the Main Menu, click the Preferences button.
2. Click the Modem button.
3. Set Modem Location to Internal if you are using the GeoBook's standard internal modem. If you have installed an external modem, select External instead.
4. Set Dial Type to Tone or Pulse, depending on what kind of telephone service you have in your area.
5. Click the Speed and Format Options... button.
6. Set Baud Rate to 38400.
7. Set Parity to None.
8. Set Word Length to 8.
9. Set Stop Bits to 1.
10. Set Handshake to None.
11. Click the OK button (or Cancel if no changes were made) to close the Serial Port Options screen.
12. Click the OK button (or once again, the Cancel button if no changes were made) to close the Preferences screen.
