The Macintosh operating system stores all system-wide preferences
that the computer needs to operate properly in the PRAM or Perimeter
RAM. Once in a while the PRAM settings may become corrupted or need
to be reset. When this procedure is done it will reset the system
preferences to default values. This may also have an effect on your clock
settings, desktop icons and on Powerbooks, your brightness control. We suggest
you Rebuild The Desktop after you Zap the PRAM.
