ISDN: Configure via Telnet

- Put the Netopia CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
- If the Netopia Internet Software Starter Kit screen does not appear automatically, double-click the My Computer icon, then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
- Click the >> button.
- Click the >> button again.
- Click the Smart Start button.
- Click the Launch Smart Start for Windows 95/NT button.
- Click Next.
- In the IP Address text box, type 192.168.1.1
- In the IP Mask field text box, type 255.255.255.0
- Type your Farallon Netopia serial number (located on the bottom of the Farallon Netopia or on your Technical Support Access Card.)
- Click the Submit button. The Farallon Netopia will reboot itself and go through a 10-second countdown.
- Once the countdown has finished, click the Telnet button. The Farallon Netopia will automatically launch a Telnet session and will present you with a configuration screen.
Netopia Configuration
- From the main menu, select Easy Setup. (To navigate and make changes, use the arrow and tab keys on your keyboard.)
- Select the Switch Type for your ISDN line.
- Enter your SPID 1 and SPID 2 information.
- Enter your directory numbers.
- Go to the NEXT SCREEN.
- In the Connection Profile Name text box, replace Easy Setup Profile with
DigiTex.net.
- In the Number to Dial text box, enter your DigiTex.net ISDN access number.
- In the Remote IP Address text box, type 127.0.0.2
- Use the default Remote IP Subnet.
- Set Address Translation Enabled to Yes.
- Set PPP Authentication (Security) to PAP.
- In the Send User Name text box, type your DigiTex.net username. For example:

- In the Send Password text box, type your DigiTex.net password.
- Leave Receive User Name and Receive Password blank.
- Go to the Next Screen.
- In the Ethernet IP Address text box, type 192.168.1.1
- Use the default Ethernet IP Subnet Mask.
- In the Default Gateway IP Address text box, type 127.0.0.2
- In the Domain Name Server IP Address text box, type 68.93.224.10
- Set IP Address Serving to ON.
- In the Number of Client IP Addresses text box, type 253
- In the 1st Client Address text box, type 192.168.1.2
- Go to the NEXT SCREEN.
- Enter a Write Access Name and Write Access Password to password protect your Farallon Netopia. In order to make future configuration changes, you will need use the name and password you entered here, so it is important that you remember them.
- Go to Restart Device.
- Select the Continue button.
- Close the telnet window.
- Select the Yes button.
- Close all other open windows.
Reconfiguring TCP/IP
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Control Panel icon.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Choose the Protocol tab.
- Double-click TCP/IP.
- Select Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the Restart button.
