Configuring TCP/IP

1. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels.
2. Double-click the TCP/IP control panel.
3. From the Connect via window, choose Ethernet.
   
4. From the Configure window, choose Manually.
   
5. In the IP Address text box, type 192.168.1.2
   
6. In the Subnet mask text box, type 255.255.255.0
   
7. Close the TCP/IP Control Panel.
   
8. Click Save.
   
9. From the Special menu, choose Restart.
   

Software Installation

1. Put the Netopia CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
   
2. Double-click the Netopia CD icon.
   
3. Double-click Netopia Internet Router.
   
4. Double-click Netopia Smart Start.
   
5. In the IP Address text box, type 192.168.1.1 .
   
6. In the IP Mask text box, type 255.255.255.0.
   
7. Enter the Netopia serial number. The serial number is located on the bottom of the Farallon Netopia ISDN Router or on your Technical Support Access Card.
   
8. Click Submit. The Netopia will reboot itself and go through a 10-second countdown. When the countdown has finished, click on the Telnet button. The Netopia will launch a Telnet session between itself and the computer, and will present you with its configuration screen.
   

Netopia Configuration

1. From the main menu, choose Easy Setup. (To navigate, use the arrow and tab keys on your keyboard.)
   
2. Select the Switch Type for your ISDN line.
   
3. Enter your SPID 1 and SPID 2 information.
   
4. Enter your directory numbers.
   
5. Go to the NEXT SCREEN.
   
6. In the Connection Profile Name text box, replace Easy Setup Profile with DigiTex.net.
   
7. In the Number to Dial text box, enter your DigiTex.net ISDN access number.
   
8. In the Remote IP Address text box, type 127.0.0.2
   
9. Use the default Remote IP Subnet.
   
10. Set Address Translation Enabled to Yes.
    
11. Set PPP Authentication (Security) to PAP.
    
12. In the Send User Name text box, type your DigiTex.net username. For example: username
    
13. In the Send Password text box, type your DigiTex.net password.
    
14. Leave Receive User Name and Receive Password blank.
    
15. Go to the Next Screen.
    
16. In the Ethernet IP Address text box, type 192.168.1.1
    
17. Use the default Ethernet IP Subnet Mask.
    
18. In the Default Gateway IP Address text box, type 127.0.0.2
    
19. In the Domain Name Server IP Address text box, type 206.160.192.10
    
20. Set IP Address Serving to ON.
    
21. In the Number of Client IP Addresses text box, type 253
    
22. In the 1st Client Address text box, type 192.168.1.2
    
23. Go to the NEXT SCREEN.
    
24. Enter a Write Access Name and Write Access Password to password protect your Farallon Netopia ISDN Router. In order to make future configuration changes, you will need use the name and password you entered here, so it is important that you remember them.
    
25. Go to Restart Device.
    
26. Click the Continue button.
    
27. Close the telnet window.
    
28. Select the Yes button.
    
29. Close all other open windows.
    

Reconfiguring TCP/IP

1. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels.
   
2. Double-click the TCP/IP Control Panel.
   
3. Select TCP/IP.
   
4. From the Configure window, choose Using DHCP Server.
   
5. Close the TCP/IP Control Panel.
   
6. Click the Save button.
