Cisco 700 Series Routers

Note: Due to current state of ISDN technology, various telephone company switch types,
routers, and the staggered nature in which individual channel calls are placed,
DigiTex.net cannot
guarantee consistent dual channel connectivity at all times.

Setting up Switch Type, SPIDs and Directory Numbers
The following commands are to be typed one after the other, pressing <enter>
after each line is typed. If at any time one gets a list of SET commands
after hitting <enter>, it means the command was typed incorrectly and it is
giving you list of the commands to find the right one. To get out of the commands
scrolling, type Q and hit <enter>.
The commands are not case sensitive.
The capitol letters represent the minimum letters for that specific
command to become active.
For example: SEt SYstemname 770 can also be typed as SE SY 770.
Enter the set directory number command to set the ISDN directory numbers:
SEt 1 DIrectorynumber = (Directory 1 provided by the phone company)
SEt 2 DIrectorynumber = (Directory 2 provided by the phone company)
If the ISDN switch type is DMS-100 or National ISDN-1 (NI-1), the router
supports an automatic SPID detection feature. The following command enables
this feature:
SEt AUTODetection ON
Once you enable the autodetection feature, wait for the router to complete
the process. This might take several minutes to complete. When autodetectionn is successful, the
following messages display:
>L76 1 Auto Spid Detect Successful 5ESS
>L76 1 055512340 Auto Spid Detect Successful
>L76 2 055512350 Auto Spid Detect Successful
No additional procedures are required if it works. If it does not work,
the following message will display:
>L84 Manually enter spids and set autodetection off
In this case, type SEt AUTODetection OFf to setup for manual configuration
of the SPIDs.
If the switch type is DMS-100, National (NI-1), or 5ESS Multipoint,
you can configure the information manually with the following commands.
SEt SWitch NI-1 (DMS-100 = DMS, 5ESS Multipoint = 5ESS)
SEt 1 SPId = (SPID 1 provided by the phone company)
SEt 2 SPId = (SPID 2 provided by the phone company)
