To perform the following procedure you will need your Windows98 Upgrade CD ROM.
For this walkthrough we are specifying d:\ as the CD ROM drive
and the cab files located in the win98 directory.
Example: d:\win98 You can substitute d:\ for the drive letter
Note: If the member is installing from the full version Windows98 CD-ROM the cab files may be
in a different folder or the root directory.

- After shutting down all open applications, click the Start button, and choose Shut Down.
- From the Are you sure you want to list select Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode?
- Click the OK button.
- At the DOS prompt, type cd system, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
- At the DOS prompt, type rename wsock32.dll wsock32.old, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
- At the DOS prompt, type extract /a d:\win98\precopy1.cab wsock32.dll then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
- When the DOS is finished extracting the file, at the DOS prompt, type exit then hit the Enter key on your keyboard this will restart your computer.
