- Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Single-click the DigiTex.net icon.
- Click File on the menu bar.
- Click Properties.
- Verify that the modem type and speed are correct.
- Click on Configure.
- Check the Maximum Speed setting. If you have a 14.4 modem, use 19200.
If you have a 28.8 modem, use 38400.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Server Type button.
- The Type of Dial-up Server field should read PPP: Windows 95,
Windows NT 3.5, Internet.
- The only items that should be checked are Enable software compression
and TCP/IP.
- Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- The Server assigned IP address field should be selected.
- The Specify name server addresses field should be selected.
- Verify the DNS addresses. Currently, the preferred order is
68.93.224.10 and 68.93.224.12
- Both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway fields
at the bottom of this tab should be checked.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- Click the OK button one more time.
- Close the Dial-Up Networking window.
- Click the Control Panel icon.
- Click the Network Control Panel.
- Look in the window under The following network components are installed.
- There should be only three network components listed: Client for Microsoft
Networks, Dialup Adapter and TCP/IP Do you have any other
network components listed? If YES, select and remove the extra components.
(If IPX/SPX is one of them, delete it first.)
- If components are missing, add them. (If you need assistance, contact DigiTex.net's
Technical Support at 1-817-558-6230.
- Under Primary Network Logon, make sure that Client for Microsoft
Networks is selected.
- Single-click the TCP/IP network component.
- Click Properties button.
- Obtain an IP address automatically should be selected.
- Click the DNS Configuration tab.
- Select Disable DNS.
- Click the Bindings tab.
- Make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is the only protocol
that is checked.
- Click the OK button.
- Single-click the Dial-Up Adapter network component.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Bindings tab.
- Make sure that TCP/IP is checked.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- When Windows95 prompts you to restart your computer, Click the OK
button.
- After your computer has restarted, click the Start button.
- Click Find.
- Click Files or Folders.
- In the Named field, type winsock.dll
- In the Look in field, you should see c: (If you do not see
c: select it now.)
- Make sure that Include subfolders is checked.
- Click Find Now.
- Find any other winsock.dll files on that list that are larger or smaller
than 42K in size.
- For all other winsock.dll files, right-click on file.
- Click Rename.
- Change the name of the file from Winsock.dll to Winsock.old
(Repeat for all extra winsock.dll files.) Repeat operation for
Wsock32.dll files. Click the Start button.
- Click Find.
- Click Files or Folders.
- In the Named field, type Wsock32.dll
- In the Look in field, you should see c: (If you do not see
c: select it now.
- Make sure that Include subfolders is checked.
- Click Find Now.
- Find any Wsock32.dll files on that list that are larger or smaller than
65K in size.
- For all other Wsock32.dll files, right-click on file.
- Click Rename.
- Change the name of the file from Wsock32.dll to Wsock32.old
(Repeat for all extra Wsock32.dll files.) Connect to DigiTex.net and
try to access various web sites
